Recently, we had an excellent AI training session here at the company. No, we weren't meeting robots that brew coffee (though that would be great), but we dived deep into the world of ChatGPT and Gemini. It was a training full of "aha!" moments, surprises, and inspiration.
Our colleague led the session, sharing his experience with tools that can genuinely simplify our work: Canvas and Deep Research. So, let's tell you what we enjoyed most about it and what you can take away from it too.
Canvas: When Your Ideas Get Space (and Superpowers)
Imagine you're writing a text. You know how it goes - you type a prompt, then realize you want to change something, and suddenly, your chat is flooded with one version after another. Classic! But what if there was something that allowed you to work with text like a flexible document? That's exactly what Canvas does.
With Canvas, you no longer have to click through dozens of versions. When you make a change, the text rewrites directly in place. And the best part? Deep Research: When a Researcher Becomes a Superhero
You know the feeling - you need to research a topic, but it takes days, if not weeks. Imagine accomplishing that in just a few minutes. That's exactly what Deep Research does!
Our training showed how Deep Research in ChatGPT and Gemini can browse dozens of pages, videos, and forums in just a few minutes. The result is a beautifully formatted document with a bibliography, links, and even tables. And if you don't like something, just say so, and the AI will adjust it, taking the entire context into account.
During the training, we observed some interesting differences in how Deep Research operates across platforms. For instance, while one session with ChatGPT used 24 sources, a comparable session with Gemini was able to search over 150. Additionally, Gemini can create a detailed, editable action plan before the research itself, which is like having an assistant who not only does the work for you but also allows you to influence how it's done. Both approaches offer unique advantages depending on the research needs.
